Identical to the Canon battery? By John P. Robertson I ordered one of these batteries as a backup for Canon battery that came in the box with my Canon Powershot SD1100 IS, at the same time ordered the camera.
Although the Canon battery, according to the writing on the shell, made in Japan, and Lenmar in China, which appear to be almost identical except for the slightest variation in color of the plastic molding marks.
Both batteries are rated 3.7V 760mAh y. I put a DMM on the two fully charged batteries, and read exactly 4.15V, which is about what you would expect.
MAh batteries are available with a higher degree, but no warranty is iron that will keep a greater burden, last longer, or even take more pictures on one charge, regardless of price. And even the best batteries will have a few duds in the batch, as a minority of these reviews reflect.
I could have done a test of how many photos each will take continuous shooting, but I will wait until both are "broken" or conditioned ... discharged and charged several times. Then I'll edit this review with the results.
I downloaded the two batteries a few times during testing of all functions of the camera, and I do not consider the problems or perceive any significant difference.
My camera flash to recycle in about 3 seconds on a new battery. The Lenmar seems to be about 10% slower than the Canon, which is a few tenths of a second. For a quarter of the price, I can live with that.
For my Powershot, Canon Do not leave the battery in the charger for more than 24 hours ... As mentioned in another review, not a good thing, regardless of protection circuits in the charger or battery.
The battery will fully charge in 90 minutes, and there is no benefit in leaving the charger supplied after the light turns green.
Tip: "Keep battery terminals clean at all times, Dirty terminals may cause poor contact between the battery and the camera Wipe with a soft cotton swab before charging or using the battery .." (Canon manual).
So far, this battery seems to be a good deal for me. I'll give it five stars, but only time will tell if the original battery is superior. I quite like it I placed an order for another one today, along with another 4GB SDHC card.
I think you have to take lots of pictures to finish with a few very good, especially with a compact camera, and I prefer to carry multiple batteries to rely on a car charger ... too slow.
