The best webcam to ... By Robert S. Tobias ... It is one you have with you. The good thing is Canon ELPH series that easily fits in your pocket, well built / design, not cost much, come with a boatload of features, and take great pictures. The SD1300, the latest Elph line continues that tradition, adding considerable additional sophistication and sacrifice some useful functions in the interest of reducing costs.
This is a small camera and carries with it the baggage that comes with the convenience of having to carry as little luggage. (Sorry, could not resist) None of the issues raised, since it comes as part of the convenience trade-off made me think anything other than the 5-star rating this camera deserves.
- Many features are accessible only through menus, sometimes several levels deep. The good news is the automatic and the scene is quite good (as long as you take a moment to review what they actually do). This camera is not intended to be used in the opening or shutter priority, much less fully manual.
- The battery life may be lower than expected. That's a trade-off for a camera that is small and light, you get a battery that is small and light. One thing you can do is get a spare battery. That is good advice for any camera. Another thing that helps is to keep the screen moves as much as possible. This means that using the monitor as possible. The "sad" part is that Canon decided to put the viewfinder on this model. This means that a camera that is simpler and less expensive to make, but will go through batteries faster, and you should use the screen to shoot.
- The response of the camera is a little slow to raise cash for children and pets. The trick to do is either have a great sense of timing and a shutter that reacts instantly burst mode or a reasonably fast (> 4 times / sec). This camera has neither.

- Do not use the camera to focus. Digital images almost always improve with the approach, but you are best done with a photo editing program. Computer-based algorithms tend to be more sophisticated and better able to judge the results of your monitor compared to the LCD of the camera.
- If you want more vibrant colors and have the choice use sRGB instead of Adobe RGB. As you get fewer colors spread over a wider range. Also do better on computer monitors, many commercial laboratories, and elsewhere the images tend to appear.
Finally, I found the Caselogic QPB-1 Compact Digital Camera Case (Black / Gray) is the right size for this camera. It is semi-rigid so you can get a good amount of protection, but does not add too much volume. It is even better by using one of them, Nite Ize SB1-2PK-01 Size-1 S-Biner, Black, 2-Pack, to secure to a belt.
